Cosplays You Need To Try

It’s nearly been a week since the spookiest day of the year and the end of a truly amazing month! October and Halloween were filled with an abundance of creativity, and we were so pleased to see many of you getting into the spirit of the occasion. The Funky Lenses affiliates were very busy throughout the 31 days, putting together and designing some of the creepiest and extremely impressive creative cosplays; there were so many different looks to come from October this year that we feel we just have to point out a selection of the ones that really stood out for us!

At Funky Lenses, we were lucky enough to collaborate with many creators to produce bold results this Halloween. Not only were the cosplays that came from this spooky time of year both scary and perfectly on theme, but they also inspired some truly outstanding cosplay ideas to use in your own portfolio! Frankenstein’s wife

A classic Halloween costume, but one that never ceases to impress; @liz_ashwood created this take on the Bride of Frankenstein cosplay. Mimicking the white streak throughout her tall, dark hair and the green-tinted skin tone was a clear indicator of who this cosplay is of. @liz_ashwood has also followed a similar appearance to Frankenstein himself, wearing a painted-on bloody wound with stitch marks across each of the scarring slashes on her face. 

To complete this look, @liz_ashwood has used one of our Angelic Green cosplay contact lenses alongside one of our Blind White contact lenses. This combination makes a great mix for this character cosplay. The blind lens fits perfectly with the inhuman and soulless persona of Frankenstein’s wife, whereas the Angelic Green lens is a great colour match to her skin tone and eye makeup, creating a seamless blend. Blind contact lenses have been designed to completely conceal the natural appearance of the eye, including the pupil, so eyesight is significantly hindered. We recommend wearing only one of the blind lenses, like @liz_ashwood, and choosing a different design for the other eye so that you can still see clearly.

Tails

Are you a fan of this super cute character? Tails, also known as Miles “Tails” Prower, is one of the main sidekicks of Sonic the Hedgehog and is known for his bright orange appearance and often dressed in a pair of aviator goggles and a jacket. @ashen.ember attended the PAX gaming convention and wore this amazing Tails cosplay look! Complete with fluffy ears and a fluffy tail, we love how distinctive this cosplay is. 

To enhance Tails' appearance even further, @ashen.ember has used the Super Sky Blue contact lenses from Funky Lenses. Tails is often depicted with bright blue eyes in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and this option makes a great fit to create an animated effect! 

Silver Surfer

In celebration of the new Fantastic Four movie that came out this year, we were stunned by this amazing Silver Surfer costume cosplay moment from @makeupbyemilycarey. Using white, grey, and black face and body paint to create the metallic suit worn by this character, @makeupbyemilycarey blew us away with this realistic cosplay look.

The perfect finishing detail to this look was the Silver Mirror contact lenses. These reflective mirrored contact lenses are a great match to enhance the metallic appearance of this character even more; you can see how the light reflects off the mirrored surface of these lenses! 

Greta from Gremlins

This October, a particularly popular cosplay look was Greta from the popular horror/comedy, Gremlins. We saw a few adaptations of the character; it is a great cosplay choice if you enjoy getting creative with SFX makeup. Funky Lenses affiliate, @jamiyabakes, recreated this look with accessory inclusions such as her bright purple eye shadow and leopard print outfit. 

For this look, @jamiyabakes has included the Cheshire Cat contact lenses. These vertical pupil lenses feature a deep aqua tone; the obscure pupil enhances the inhuman characteristics of this character, and the dark blue pigment mirrors the deep tone of Greta’s eyes in the movies. The vertical pupil lenses allow for full vision as they feature a hidden pupil hole that completely disguises the appearance of the natural pupil.
