Pride Month- Why June?
Before we talk about our makeup, it’s important to recognise the history. What makes Pride month so important, and why do we dress up for it? Pride month is celebrated in June to mark the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, a series of riots that took place in New York in 1969. These riots were in response to a police raid on a gay bar, and have since come to symbolise a momentous turn for LGBTQ rights. Pride month represents pride in yourself and your sexuality, as well as acceptance of others, and a celebration of the community. That’s why we dress up with bright colours and bold makeup- to celebrate being unapologetically you. So, what makeup are you going to pick out this year?
