Contact Lens Glossary
These are all of the words that you’ll find on our product pages, as well as on your lens packaging. It’s important that you know what everything means, so that you can make sure that you’re purchasing the right lenses for your eyes, and so that you can check that the right product has been sent to you.
-
Duration- this refers to how long you can use the lenses for. On the Funky Lenses website, we stock daily, 30-day, and 90-day lenses. Our daily lenses are single-use and must be disposed of after one day. Our reusable lenses can be used again (with the correct care). For instance, a pair of 30-day lenses can be used for 30 consecutive days after first opening.
-
Expiry Date- just like any other product, contact lenses have an expiry date. After this date, they are no longer safe to use and must be disposed of.
-
Prescription- it’s important that you purchase lenses with the correct prescription for your eyes. You can browse for prescription lenses here and filter for your desired corrective strength. If a lens is marked as 0.00 (plano), this means that it’s a non-prescription style.
-
Diameter- eye measurements are also really important. You can get your eye measurements from any trusted eye-care provider and ensure that you’re purchasing a pair of lenses that suits these measurements, to avoid discomfort. The diameter refers to the diameter of the lenses, and will usually be a figure between 14 and 17.
-
Base Curve- this refers to the curve of the lenses, and will usually be written as 8.6.
-
Water Content- different lenses have different water contents, written as a percentage. If you’re worried about your eyes drying out, you may prefer to look for a higher water content.
Reading Your Product Page
Let’s take an example straight from our website- The Mini Sclera White Colored Lenses (Monthly).
You can click on the product page below, or keep reading for our step-by-step breakdown.
When you first click on the product page, the first thing you’ll see is the lens name and image.
As you can see, the lens name contains all the information you need- the style, color, and duration. If the lens were a prescription style, this would also be included in the name. The first picture you see will show the contact lens on the eye, showing the color and style. You can scroll down with the arrows on the side to see additional images. Some lenses will have specific graphics showing the lenses on different eye colors. This page, as you can see, features an image of one of our affiliates wearing the lenses, so that you can see a real-life example of the lenses styled over natural eyes.
To the left of the image, you’ll find a table with your key information.

The key info includes the diameter, base curve, prescription, and quantity of the lenses. If you wish to switch prescriptive strength or quantity, you can do so by clicking on the drop-downs and selecting your preferred options. This section also shows you the price of the lens, and tells you if the contacts are part of one of our sales or promotions. Below, you can see additional products that may be of use to you, like our contact lens solution. Toggle these on or off to add them to your cart.
Below this is the checkout button.

As you can see, there are two buttons, one to add the lenses to your cart and the other to check out immediately. You can also view your delivery options here, by clicking on the blue ‘View Options’ drop-down. If you like the lenses, but want them in a different color or duration, you can click on one of the options below to be instantly taken to your preferred option.
Scroll down for any additional information. To start with, we have this:

The 3 for 2 button tells us that these lenses are a part of our multibuy sale- you can get 3 of them for the price of 2. Beneath this is our short description of the lenses.
Still curious? Keep scrolling.
This table tells you all of the lens information in more detail. Here, you’ll find some key bits that you already know, such as the measurements and prescriptive strength, but you’ll also get some additional info, like the water content and material. Want to learn more about the brand or the range? Click on any blue link to be transported to all of our other options.
Scroll a little further for a more detailed description of the lenses, along with some key selling points.
This description is intended to give you all the information we have on the lenses, as well as some styling inspiration. Our selling points, below, tell you why you should pick the lenses. Notice the ‘Mini Scleras’ icon? That tells you about this range and what you need to know about it.
Beneath this are the product scales:
These scales were made to give you even more understanding of your lenses. The Comfort Scale refers to the flexibility of the lenses- softer, flexible lenses (3) may be easier to insert for first-time users. The Tint Scale refers to coverage. If you have darker eyes, you can check the scale to make sure that the lenses are pigmented enough (4) for your eyes. The Vision Scale refers to the visibility you’ll have in the lenses. Some contacts, like our blind lenses and mesh styles, will impair your visibility, so it’s important to check this before you purchase them.
Want to know even more about the range? Beneath the scales, we have information on the range of your lenses.
The Mini Sclera White Lenses belong to the mini sclera range, and you can click on the banner to be taken to our other mini sclera lenses. Read the information below to find out what you need to know about mini sclera contacts- the benefits, the restrictions, and the look.
Almost done! You can scroll to the end of the page for carousels like this:
These carousels show you related images and related products. You can scroll through with the arrows on either side and find some styling inspiration or product ideas. The carousel above, for example, shows different pictures of our affiliates styling white lenses.
