How to Remove Your Contact Lenses

If you’ve been wearing your contact lenses all day, you’ll need to know how to take them out safely and comfortably. But for first-time lens users, this can feel a little scary. How can you be sure not to hurt yourself or contaminate the lenses? Don’t worry- we’re here to help. Here’s your step-by-step tutorial for removing contact lenses:

  1. Wash your hands.

  2. Carefully hold your eyelid open.

  3. With your other hand, reach into your eye and pinch the lens gently up and out.

  4. You may need to try this a few times, but don’t worry, you’ll get it!

Top Tip: If you don’t like sticking your fingers in your eyes, we have a few handy lens accessories that can help you hold, insert, and remove your lenses more easily, like our useful silicone inserters and sterile lens tweezers.

How do I store my lenses?

Once you’ve taken your lenses out safely, you can decide how to store them. If your lenses are daily, this means that they are single-use and can be disposed of right away. If they’re reusable, you’ll need to clean them and store them safely in between uses. You can do this with our eye-safe solution and sterile lens cases, also found in the lens accessories section (below). Simply rinse your lenses with the eye-safe solution, rubbing them gently with clean fingers. Then leave them to soak inside a contact lens case with a few drops of fresh eye-safe solution. This should keep them nice and fresh, ready for your next use!
