Feature: Animal Lenses!

Welcome to another Funky Lenses style guide! As we round the corner into spooky season, we thought we’d take a beat to focus on one of our favourite costume collections, which we’re sure a lot of you will be using for your Halloween looks: Animal Lenses!

Just like animals themselves, animal lenses are very varied, but they can be grouped into different subsects, which we’ll go over today. Whether you want to go tiger-eyed or lizard-brained, we’ve got plenty of options for you, with a few fun costume ideas!

What Are Animal Lenses?

Animal contact lenses are costume contacts that mimic the eye look of a specific animal. For instance, cat-eye lenses are intended to relicate the vertical pupil that cats have. Animal lenses can achieve their effects by featuring elongated pupils, darkened limbal rings, wide diameters, or multi-tonal pigment. Let’s break that down into the different types:

Cat Eye Lenses- the classic cat-eye lens is beloved by all, giving a wonderful base for any feline or wild-looking makeup. With an elongated pupil, the cat-eye lenses replicate a cat’s vertical pupil, and give you an untameable look that everyone will love! Snake Eye Lenses- much like the cat eye lenses, snake eye lenses feature an elongated pupil, mimicking a lizard’s slitted eye. Our snake eye lenses come in shades of green and yellow, perfect for a serpent cosplay, or for adding a little whimsy into a regular makeup look.
Dragon Lenses- just like cat and snake lenses, dragon lenses prominently feature an elongated pupil. However, these lenses also contain a variance in color, with bright and vibrant patterns that shift from one hue to the next, giving you a magical and fantastical look.
Crow Lenses- now we come to our lenses without elongated pupils. Our crow lenses are intended to give you a bird’s wide-eyed appearance, with a darkened limbal ring and a rounded, small central pupil. These lenses are perfect for any bird makeup, animated character cosplay, or anime outfit.
Werewolf Lenses- finally, we have our werewolf lenses, perfect for elevating a simple Halloween costume. These animal lenses are simple, with a regular pupil and diameter. However, the multi-tonal color gradient gives them a really vivid, intense appearance that’s perfect for a supernatural effect.
