This gingham heart look by @leahcomptonn is absolutely to die for, and it features one of our favorite romantic styles: the Sakura Pink Contact Lenses!

These color-block costume lenses have been incredibly popular over the past couple of months, as we’ve been seeing plenty of gorgeous pink makeup creations. For example, Leah’s reverse-heart makeup uses plenty of pink shades, perfect for pairing with these bold and vivid pink contact lenses! Want to recreate Leah’s gorgeous look? 1. Sketch out the heart-

This bit is really important, as your entire look stems from the heart shape. You want to sketch out the general shape around the centre of your face, making sure to stay symmetrical. Leah ends the heart at her lips, but you can always go smaller or bigger depending on how you want your makeup to look. For the white base, you can use our White Stargazer Foundation, perfect for laying down a thick layer of pigment. Get the Stargazer Foundation and Powder Duo Set to help keep your makeup in place for all of Valentine’s Day!

  1. Contour & shading-

After getting the rough shape of the heart, @leahcomptonn uses bronzer to contour the outline. This helps to make the love heart look 3D, like it’s sitting on her face instead of just looking flat. Use a soft, fluffy brush to blend out the bronzer until you’re happy with the effect.

  1. Measure your squares-

This is where it gets a little tricky. You want to measure out rows and columns of equal width across your face, in order to create the squares for your gingham design. Symmetry is super important, as any mistake will be very visible, so just take your time. Leah uses a nail file to get those rows nice and straight, so feel free to get creative and use every tool at your disposal. You can use any makeup pencil to sketch out the lines- even a lip liner or brow pencil will do the trick!

  1. Start painting-

Now it’s time to bring in some colour. For her look, Leah has chosen a red and pink colour scheme, perfect for the weekend’s festivities. But remember- this look is all yours, so feel free to choose a color scheme that works best for you. If you want a little inspiration, check out our selection of SFX makeup and face paint here. With so many colours of top-quality face and body paint, we have plenty of options for you to choose from. You can pick some liquid face paint and use a thin brush to colour in the squares, like Leah is doing. Or, you can try out one of our handy face paint sticks for a more convenient colour application. Either way, make sure that you’re alternating as you go. Leah skips rows as well as columns, allowing for space all around each of her red squares. Then she goes back in and adds pink squares, following the same pattern. To finish, she goes back over the white squares to make sure that they all stand out.

  1. Create an outline-

This gorgeous gingham look is inspired by love heart pillows, and to recreate the image as much as possible, Leah creates a white, lacy border around the edge of her love heart. You can do this too with your white foundation and a thin brush. Simply paint on a white outline, and add swirls of lace in a symmetrical pattern. Don’t worry if it’s a little messy; you can always go back in and clean it up after.

  1. Prep the lips-

A stunning makeup like this always needs a stunning lip to match. For this look, @leahcomptonn chose a red and pink lip, perfect for matching the color scheme of the gingham pattern. Start with a paint pencil or lip liner in your desired dark color, and sketch the outline of your lips. Then, you can go back over with some liquid lipstick in a lighter color. Use a small brush to blend the two colors until you reach the desired effect. You can add some gloss for a shiny look, or leave the lips matte, whatever feels more suited to your makeup.

  1. Lenses!

Your makeup look is finally complete, and it’s time to add in your showstopper- our costume lenses! For this look, the Sakura Pink Lenses work perfectly, matching the pink shade of the lips and gingham design. Leah completes her eye makeup with some lashes, but you can always opt for some mascara instead, or leave the lashes clean. And you’re done! You’ve got the perfect Valentine’s heart look, with the perfect Valentine’s contact lenses to match!
