How do I prepare my contacts?
-
When you get your contact lenses, check the box, and make sure that you have the right lenses- duration, measurements, and color.
-
You can also check the expiry date, and make sure that your lenses are safe for use.
-
Most of our lenses come in blister packs, with handy little windows that let you see the lens before opening the package. If you can, check the lenses for damage BEFORE opening the box- sealed packaging is much easier to return in case of any problems.
-
Once opened, you need to clean your lenses for use. For this, you’ll need some contact lens solution. This solution is eye-safe and antibacterial. It will help to wash off the stronger preserving solution that the lenses arrived in, so that they won’t irritate your eyes. With clean hands, use the eye-safe solution to rinse the lenses gently, and then leave them to soak in the contact lens solution for 2 hours.
How to Insert Lenses- Step By Step
-
With clean hands, place the contact lens on your index finger. The lens should form a soft U shape. If it looks more like a V, it may be inside out.
-
Use your other hand to hold your upper eyelid open.
-
Gently place the lens onto your eyeball.
-
Allow the lens to adjust into place, blinking a few times if needed. If the positioning just isn’t right, you can always take it out and try again.
TOP TIP: If you don’t like the idea of touching your eyes, you can check out our contact lens accessories for a little extra help. Lens tools like our silicone inserters can help you handle and insert the lenses without holding them directly on your fingers.
How long can I wear my lenses?
It depends on your lens duration. Daily lenses are single-use, so you’ll wear them once and then throw them out. Other lenses, like our 30-day and 90-day lenses, are reusable, as long as you clean them in between uses. Just remember never to wear your lenses for longer than 8 hours at a time, to avoid drying out your eyes.
How do I clean my lenses?
This is the same as the prepping process- you’ll need some eye-safe solution and a sterile contact case. Wash your lenses with eye-safe solution, and leave them to soak in the contact case.
